Windcat's First CSOV Launched by Damen Shipyards in Vietnam
Windcat's First Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) Launched by Damen Shipyards in Vietnam
Windcat's first Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) has been successfully launched at Damen Shipyards' Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam. The launch ceremony took place on 12 October, marking a significant milestone in the construction of six CSOVs, all being built at this location.
With the vessel now in the water, Damen has announced that it will proceed with outfitting and commissioning operations to prepare the CSOV for delivery in the second quarter of 2025.
The partnership between Damen, Windcat, and CMB.TECH to develop and build these offshore wind farm support vessels was first revealed in 2022. The Elevation Series CSOVs, designed in collaboration with Windcat and CMB.TECH, are specifically built to provide in-field technical and maintenance support to offshore wind farms, with the capacity to remain on station for up to 30 days at a time.
The 87-meter-long vessel is capable of accommodating 120 crew members on board. Notably, the CSOV will be equipped with dual-fuel hydrogen technology, a cutting-edge feature aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing sustainability in offshore wind operations.
This is exciting news for the future crew members who will call this vessel home. We look forward to seeing the vessel's impressive facilities when it becomes fully operational.
